What Is The Shelf Life Of The Xbox 360? I Don’t Want To Get A System That Will Only Be Good For 1 Or 2 Years.

I’ve heard that the ps3 will be around for another 8 years or so. I don’t want to invest in an xbox 360 if I’ll need to turn around and buy another system in 2 years. Does anyone know what the projected shelf life of the 360 is?

The Playstation 3 is a struggling console. Games cost up to four times as much to produce as competing consoles. Though the PS2 was wildly successful, it was only out for six years before it’s successor was released. Do you really think a comparatively unsuccessful system as the PS3 will last LONGER than the PS2? I don’t.
The Xbox 360 will be around for about as long (if not longer)as the PS3, provided the PS3 survives for the entire generation. Generally speaking, system generations last between five and seven years.
    1977-1985 – Atari 2600
    1985-1990 – NES
    1990-1996 – SNES, Genesis
    1994-2000 – Playstation, N64
    2000-2007 – Xbox, PS2, Gamecube
None of the above systems lasted less than four years, and as far as I’m aware, no serious development time or attention has been placed on the next Xbox, meaning it’s AT LEAST two to three years off.
