How Do Consoles Like Xbox 360 And The Ps3 Work With Advanced Game Settings?

a PC gives you options of like trilleanar filtering and AA and very high settings or high settings
how does that work on a console. is it just maxed out or what?
also for example would a maxed out left 4 dead on the pc look better then a maxed out on the ps3 or xbox 360

I have a PS3 (the 80 Gig HD PS2/1 backward compatible version) and I think the reason that both PS3′s and Xbox 360′s are maxed out. Consoles are not like PC’s where you can upgrade the graphics card and memory. When you buy a console, that’s it. You can never upgrad it.

there is no reason for them to make setting on a console because they set it to play as good as it can, or at least as good as they can program it to run on the console which does differ from game to game
the reason pc’s have these setting is for people who buy better cards and people that have old cards so people with low end pc’s can still run games
